Wagons roll…

Modern scientific research has never been more complex, competitive or critical. New horizons are opening up as traditionally well defined scientific domains blend into multi-disciplinary collaboration. Introductions have become both broad and deep. Methods are delicate and precise. Result sets continue to grow exponentially. Discussions are wide ranging with immediate effect.

Creativity has never been more important. And yet:

Whilst we value rapid innovation we often counteract it.

Whilst we value collaborative approaches we often restrict communication.

Whilst we aim to stand on the shoulders of existing methods we often limit the reuse of our own work.

Do not consider me harsh, dear reader – I say this out of compassion.

The articles on this website aim to promote a new era of science by discussing, evaluating and generally opining on the art and theory at the edges of the scientific method: words and pictures on the science of science.

I hope you can join me.
